Problem horses: Part 1

What might look on the surface like a noble steed is in fact a dangerous vehicle-for-one. It can trample you, saber you, skewer you, blow you up with a grenade, or shoot you with a rifle. They change direction quickly, take a lot of damage, then ride off into the sunset to regenerate. And they’re also as thick as flies on a buffalo lately, doubling down on flags and colliding in mid-air as they prance about. They have the capacity for good, to hand out first aid and ammunition to their comrades. But I’ve never seen one do that, they’re just pure evil in my eyes.

How does one combat a foe like this? I’ve yet to find many uses for dynamite that don’t get me accidentally killed in the process. Typically, I don’t play as assault so haven’t had much time to experiment with other than the blowing up of locked doors or running up to a large tank and dying because I forget to put enough distance between myself and the explosives before detonation. Maybe the horses aren’t the problem after all, I probably self-inflict more damage than they ever could.

At some time during this multi-part series, I will examine the horse, its armaments, use cases, strengths, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities. In the process, maybe I’ll become a better horseman. Maybe even a horsemaster like the riders of Rohan (note that Aragorn doesn’t even screw with horses, they are tricky sons of stallions). Incidentally, I just watched the movie from this clip yesterday so maybe that’s why horses haunt my thoughts.
